Check them out here.

- Modish Quilter is a quarterly (4 issues a year) digital magazine subscription full of tutorials, patterns, and inspiration for modern quilters.
- Make Modern is a digital magazine subscription that is published every two months (6 issues a year). This magazine is written by quilters, for quilters. Each issue is 100+ pages full of modern quilt patterns, articles, and interviews!

Quilty Shoes
So, it was recently brought to my attention that Inkkas makes quilt-inspired shoes! These HAD to be on the list. They’re just too perfect. Check out the Blake Slip-Ons or the vintage patchwork Hendrix Joggers!
Studio Clothes
Scout Cloth is a family-run business that is designing clothes for makers. The Studio Shirt and Studio Tunic are comfortable AND functional – complete with large pockets, cuffed sleeves, and a back hook to keep it hung up and ready to use when the creative bug strikes. Or grab one of their Cozy Sets for lounging.
Stripology XL Ruler
This slotted ruler from Creative Grids is a favorite among quilters! It has cutting slits every 1/2 inch so each strip you cut is precisely the same size! It also saves a ton of time by allowing you to cut a half yard of fabric or a fat quarter without ever moving the ruler. The ruler slides easily over the fabric until pressure is applied, and then the grip on the back keeps the ruler in place with no slipping. Plus, it’s made in the USA, which I love!
Custom Neon Light
This gift idea might be a little out of the norm, but these Custom Neon Signs are so stinkin’ cool and customizable. They start at 16″ and go all the way up to 47″. You can also choose from 10 different colors.
Gifts Under $200
Heirloom Quilting Tools
I have been drooling over these hand-crafted, wooden quilting tools from Modern American Vintage. I’m talking heirloom-quality tools like a quilter’s clapper, seam ripper, hera markers, and seam roller. Not only are they useful tools, they are beautifully made using exotic woods. Each tool is handcrafted, hand-sanded up to a fine finish, and coated with a blend of beeswax and orange oil to bring out the natural beauty of the wood. You can purchase individual tools or get a matched kit! Absolutely beautiful gifts for quilters.
Quilt Wall Hanger
Quilt hangers can make a quilt look even more amazing by hanging them up on a wall, plus hanging a quilt on the wall is a great way to fill a large wall space. The company, Quilt Hangers, makes beautiful, wooden quilt hangers that are customized from 12″ to 94″ wide and available in 7 different stain options. These hangers are also easy enough to assemble that the quilt being displayed can be easily changed for any given change in decor or holiday!
Wooden Barn Quilt
- Megan Beachum of Crow Bar D’Signs creates gorgeous Barn Quilts that she hand paints and crafts from cedar and pine locally sourced in Vermont. These are a must-see!
- Amish Barn Quilt Wall Art by the Amish Country Store
Gifts Over $200
Oliso Pressing Iron
Oliso is known for making irons designed for sewing, quilting, and crafting. I love my Oliso Smart Iron, and it would make a fantastic gift for any avid quilter or sewist. Oliso also makes a less expensive mini iron called the Mini Project Iron. It is compact and lightweight and fits right next to your sewing machine. So, if your quilter is tight on space or travels for quilting retreats, then this is the one for them! Add a matching Solemate or a felt Carry Bag to make it extra travel-friendly. Want to level up your gift? Add a wool pressing mat, like this one from Project Wool or this one from Oliso.
Heirloom Quilt Ladder
A handcrafted, heirloom quilt ladder is a piece of furniture you can use to display your quilts for years, and even generations, to come. And like the quilts you choose to put on it, each ladder is made with tremendous care and attention to detail. Use code MeganQF28 for 20% off (good through 12/31/23).
Variable Priced Gifts
Online Quilting Course
These days, there are countless digital courses available, and many are geared toward sewists and quilters. Here are a few of my favorites:
- Learn to write quilt patterns in Quilter’s Candy Pattern Writing Course.
- New quilters can learn all the basics in Lo & Behold Stitchery’s Beginner Quilting Academy or dive into something a little more advanced with Triangle School or Curve College.
- Get comfortable with free motion quilting in String & Story’s Free Motion Quilting Academy.
- Learn the ins and outs of running a longarm quilting business with Longarm League’s Rookie Season.
- Learn how to level up your quilt labels with my course on Hand Embroidered Quilt Labels.
Keep in mind, that many of these courses are only open for enrollment at select times through the year, so it may require some planning ahead.
Fabric Gifts for Quilters
Fabric is an absolute necessity for quilters. Precut fabric bundles like jelly rolls and fat quarter bundles make excellent gifts. Unless you know their specific taste in fabric, I wouldn’t suggest buying any expensive fabrics, but a gift card or gift certificate to a favorite local quilt shop or online quilt shop is perfect! Here are a few of my favorite online fabric shops:
- Hawthorne Supply Co. offers gift certificates and has a huge selection of high-quality fabric.
- Cottoneer also has gift certificates and is known for their beautifully curated bundles.
- Pasadena Quilt Studio offers quilt cards in $20 – $100 denominations. They carry lots of solids, which is a staple for many quilters!
- Fat Quarter Shop offers digital gift certificates that can be emailed or physical gift certificates that can be mailed.
Visit a Quilt Museum
Is your quilter a bit more adventurous? Take a road trip to a local quilt museum, most states have at least one. I visited Colorado’s Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum for Mother’s Day and it was such a fun trip! A quick Google search for your area is a good place to start. Passing through Kentucky? The National Quilt Museum is in Paducah. And if you find yourself near Lincoln, Nebraska, stop by the International Quilt Museum.
This is a great list!
Thank you! So glad you found it useful. Happy Holidays!
Such a great and extensive list! Thanks for putting this together for quilters, Megan!
