Modern Patriotic Color Palettes for Quilters
Summer is full of patriotic holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day. Plus, with the release of my Betsy quilt pattern right around the corner, I felt inspired to create some patriotic color palettes. When creating patriotic color palettes, it can be tough to stray from the classic red, white, and blue. For this blog post, I tried to offer some different options that were a stretch from the traditional primary colors. Each patriotic palette is inspired by the colors of the American Flag and features 6 solid colors that I pulled from the Art Gallery Fabric Pure Solids collection.
And just in case you are interested, here is a little history of the American flag. On June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress adopted the Stars and Stripes as the official flag for the United States of America. Each of the colors are chosen to represent a value or idea. Red represents hardiness and valor, while white signifies innocence and purity. Blue was chosen to represent vigilance, perseverance, and justice.
